Christina Cavazos

August 11, 2017 @ 8:30 pm – 9:15 pm

Austin singer-songwriter Christina Cavazos is just 17, but she’s been dedicated to making music for as long as she can remember. Her musical maturity is fully evident on her second EP, Cold, released in February, 2017. Showcasing her clear soprano and accomplished songwriting, producer Louie Lino (Nada Surf, Ume, Matt Pond PA) layers Cavazos’ vocals over lush sonic collages, creating an elegant dream-pop mix full of allure. Peter Blackstock of the Austin American Statesman named it one of 5 “standout” EP’s by Austin artists in 2017.  He writes: “This EP by 17-year-old Christina Cavazos might be the best thing I’ve heard from a new Austin artist since I moved back to town…Not just a future name to watch, but a captivating singer-songwriter who has already arrived…Cavazos casts beautifully dreamy spells with her clear, high voice drifting above smartly low-key arrangements that allow the compelling melodies of her original tunes to shine.”  Others have been quick to notice, too, and she has received radio airplay on Austin’s KGSR, SUN Radio, 101X and KUTX, where her track “Over Me” was the song of the day on March 2nd.
